Tenten - What Has Never Been

Description

Yesterday I discovered something amazing. You see, I have a small set of the cheap Faber-Castell colored pencils, which I rarely use because I also have the good ones. I accidentally discovered, that when the color tip makes contack with water, the color changes into something like watercolors. Curious, I tried to scrape the color tip and mix the "powder" with water - and voila! I had created some real watercolors. Eager to try out this new found, I began sketching different drawings to make, and that is how this in the end was made. After 10 hours approxemately, of course :XD:

And not only have I discovered that painting with watercolors is fun, I have also noticed that you have to be EXTREMELY careful with this kind of medium. I praise myself lucky that I have a pen with liquid paper :XD: 'Nuff said...

So, I wanted to draw something simple, and I looked for an excuse for making red lips, so I came up with the idea of making a geisha. Originally, I had planned on drawing Sakura (a friend of mine suggested her), but I have too many Sakura drawings already. Besides, I am tired of drawing her in red... Hinata was, of course, the next on my list, but she does not match with this kind of red - at all! Thinking things over again, I figured it might be best to draw someone who has dark hair and has an excuse for weairing ancient Chinese/Japanese clothes (Is geishas Jap or Chi?)... Of course, everything pointed towards Tenten since I obviously cannot draw anything other than fanart :XD:

The title "What Has Never Been" actually has an explanation; you see, you cannot just become a geisha - you are BORN a geisha. Tenten is originally from China, and she could have been a geisha, right? So if that had been the case, she could have looked like this :D

I really like it myself, and my family seems to do so too, which I am glad to know. Rarely do I show them my drawings (except for my brother, who usually gives me constructive critism - he is my beta :XD:..), so when I finally do, it usually are my prettiest drawing that I am proud of. And I am certainly proud of this, even though there are errors everywhere. Right now I do not care :)

I know there still is a long way to go, but I guess I will just keep fighting! :D
